Matthew is a highly respected and accomplished private sector and industry advocate. He takes the helm of state’s premier construction industry peak following a successful term as Chief Executive Officer of Master Builders Western Australia.
Mathew’s appointment promises a new era of industry leadership and advocacy for the state’s $88 billion construction industry and Master Builders NSW’s 8,500 members.
Matthew’s prior executive leadership experience also includes roles as Chief Executive of Master Builders Tasmania, Chief Economist at Master Builders Australia and Senior Economist at Deloitte. He brings an extensive skillset across commercial management, finance, HR, advocacy and strategic leadership.
Quotes from Matthew Pollock:
“I’ve had the privilege of working a few dream jobs in my career but having the opportunity to lead the major construction industry peak, in the premier state, in the largest construction market in the country is truly a rare honour. Master Builders NSW is more than the leading voice for residential, commercial and engineering construction, it’s the organisation that represents the interests of thousands of businesses and business owners in every region around New South Wales. As I take on this role, I’m deeply conscious of the extraordinary legacy of Brian Seidler AM, a mentor and friend who led Master Builders NSW for 25 years prior to his passing. I feel very proud to be following in his footsteps and to lead the MBA through the next phase of its journey.”
Quotes from Michael O’Donnell, President of the Master Builders Association of NSW:
“The construction industry is at an inflection point with skills shortages and unrestrained regulation, red tape and low productivity that need to be addressed to support a growing economy. Matthew has proven leadership qualities and runs on the board. He comes onboard at a pivotal time for Master Builders New South Wales and the State’s construction sector. His leadership and experience will help drive the development of a new strategy as we seek to modernise our operations and maximise the value that we create for members. The Board undertook a comprehensive search to find the right person to lead our organisation at this time of major challenges and opportunities. Matthew was the outstanding candidate, and we are delighted to have him on board. Through his success in leading Master Builders associations in other states, Matthew has proven himself to be a construction industry leader of the highest calibre. Matthew formally commences on 13 October and between now and then will be working with the Board and executive team to ensure that he can hit the ground running.”
