Build Your Future with Carpentry Training at MBA’s Education Centre.
Master Builders NSW offers a practical, industry-led approach to carpentry training at its Education Centre in Sydney’s Norwest. The program is designed for apprentices and employers who want real-world skills, flexible learning options, and clear qualification and licence pathways.
The CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry at Master Builders NSW delivers one of the most authentic, workplace-aligned training experiences available. Students learn from licensed carpenters and builders who are qualified trainers and assessors and who bring current industry experience into every lesson, ensuring apprentices are job-ready from day one.
Training is delivered in blocks, with attendance required every six to seven weeks on average, allowing apprentices to focus on one complete skill set before returning to site to apply what they have learnt. This structure not only builds confidence and retention but also gives employers greater flexibility to plan their apprentices Carpentry skills development around project schedules.
The team at Master Builders have designed a flexible structure of the training, meaning that apprentices can start their training at any time throughout the year, not at only one or two scheduled intake periods. The flexible schedule also affords apprentices who miss a class block to make it up sooner, usually not needing to wait more than 6 months for another opportunity at that subject.
Each stage of the Carpentry training program follows the sequence of the building process. First-year apprentices begin with safety and foundational skills, while learning introductory skills on framing, foundations, flooring systems, trusses and roofs across five training blocks. In the second year, students construct an almost granny-flat-sized home with timber and steel frames, floors, installation of windows and doors, and ceilings across six blocks. By the third year, apprentices complete full home structures, mastering stairs, wet areas, cladding and roof systems over five intensive blocks of training.
“One of the things that is appealing about being a trainer with Master Builders NSW is the friendly and relaxed environment, where smaller class numbers, allow me to teach and offer a more tailored interaction with the students. After several years of teaching here, I still get a kick when I see the pride and satisfaction on their faces when they’ve learnt a new skill as they complete a construction activity”, says Collin Cox, Master Builders trainer and assessor, and Principal Consultant for Cox Design Services.
The Master Builders Education Centre at Norwest offers a modern, purpose-built learning environment with large undercover workshops, air-conditioned classrooms and access to the latest carpentry tools and equipment. Students benefit from free parking, nearby public transport and supportive facilities including a kitchen, BBQ area and dedicated learning assistance.
According to 3rd year Carpentry apprentice Leo Lemus-Selinas, who is currently working on a bathroom renovation project and installing a walk-in wardrobe, he enjoys training at Norwest, “I gain confidence with the skills I learn in a relaxed atmosphere. The trainers ensure everyone in the class understands what is being taught and won’t move forward unless everyone is on board”.
With fee-free apprenticeship training available until 2027 and government incentives of up to $10,000 for eligible apprentices and employers, there has never been a better time to start a Carpentry apprenticeship or take on a motivated Carpentry Apprentice. Mature-age students and those pursuing non-apprenticeship pathways are also welcome to enrol into the Carpentry training program.
Master Builders helps apprentices earn while they learn and gives employers confidence that their apprentice is being trained to the highest industry standards.
